The Toukley Peninsula
The Toukley Peninsula is surrounded by water on three sides. With Tuggerah Lake to the South, Budgewoi Lake to the North and the ocean to the East the area is a waterfront haven for fishermen, boating enthusiasts, windsurfers, jet skiers, divers, surfers and beach lovers – literally anyone who loves the coast and the relaxed lifestyle that goes with it.
Osborne Park
Osborne Park is located on the northern side of Toukley on the edge of Budgewoi Lake. The park has picnic and playground facilities, a boat ramp and is home to the Tuggerah Lakes Coast Guard.
The park and lake currently plays host to a number of Ski championships throughout the year.
Cabbage Tree Harbour
Cabbage Tree Harbour located off Bald St, Norah Head is home to Norah Head Search & Rescue and boasts a boat ramp, a lovely bay and a small ocean rock pool ideal for families.
Pebbly Beach, Jenny Dixon Beach and Hargraves Beach
Pebbly Beach, Jenny Dixon Beach and Hargraves Beach are located to the north of Soldiers beach however all are unpatrolled.
Norah Head Lighthouse
Norah Head Lighthouse was established in 1903 and was the last lighthouse built in the style of James Barnet. The Norah Head Lighthouse is now available for accommodation, tours and weddings
Soldiers Beach
Soldiers Beach is located at picturesque Norah Head and is one of the few Central Coast beaches untouched by urban development. On a clear day the view southwards takes in The Entrance, Crackneck Point and Barrenjoey Head at the tip of the Sydney beaches.
The south – easterly aspect of the beach encourages wave sizes in excess of 1.5m making it a surfer’s dream and swimmers delight. There is plenty of parking close to the beach - the picnic tables and kiosk create a great family atmosphere.
The Soldiers Beach Surf Lifesaving Club has been established since 1953 and volunteer lifesavers patrol the beach from October to April.
The Soldiers Beach headland provides a wonderful location for whale watching during the winter months
Canton Beach
Canton Beach is located on the southern side of Toukley on the edge of Tuggerah Lake. With views back to The Entrance there is plenty of picnic, BBQ and playground facilities located along the foreshore as well as a number of camping and caravan facilities providing water front accommodation.
Toukley Sailing Club is located at Canton Beach with lessons held for all ages on Sunday morning and racing every Sunday afternoon.
A popular bike and walking track runs from the Toukley Sailing Club along the water front to the edge of Wyrrabalong National Park.
A Nature Haven
North Wyrrabalong National Park is located within 5kms of the Toukley CBD on the North Entrance Peninsula between the townships of Norah Head and the North Entrance. A network of walking tracks help you explore the varied landscape of the park. The ocean side is mostly coastal dunes with beach access which leads to popular unpatrolled surfing and fishing areas. On the western side there is a lovely strip of red gum forest, open scrubland, wetlands and the last significant littoral (coastal) rainforest on the Central Coast.
There is considerable diversity of fauna including the lace monitor, flying fox, bandicoot, squirrel glider, diamond python, possum, New Holland mouse, antechinus and many bird species.
An Outdoor Haven:
A paved walking and bike track is located along the foreshore of Canton Beach from the Sailing Club through to the Canton Beach Tourist Park. From then on the bush track enters the wetland area which marks the southern tip of Wyrrabalong National Park.
A walking trail built by the Norah Head Coast Care group takes you from the Bush Street Reserve at Norah Head to the Norah Head Lighthouse and takes around 10 minutes to complete.
A paved bike track runs from the Toukley CBD to the southern end of Budgewoi township offering an easy ride for all the family.
There are a network of colour-coded walking tracks lcoated in the northern section of the Wyrrabalong National Park which allows you to explore the variety of landscapes in the park. You can get to Tuggerah Lake and the littoral (coastal) rainforest section of the park by walking the 4.6km Lillypilly Loop Trail with views over the wetlands. If you would like to see the beautiful Red Gum Forest, walk the 2.3km Red Gum Trail with viewing platforms offering wide views of the mountains and Tuggerah Lake. The 1.3km Burrawang Track follows a network of old mining exploration trails leading to a popular but unpatrolled surfing and fishing area. The 900m Wetlands Trail provides a link to Evans Rd, Toukley through swamp mahogany and paperbark fringed wetlands. Beautiful wildflowers grow along most of the National Park trails and are at their best from July to September.
A Sporting Haven:
The community strongly supports most sporting activities. Sports catered for include football, rugby league, netball, cricket, little athletics, surfing, tennis, swimming and hockey.
Golf enthusiasts are well catered for with a picturesque eighteen hole golf course located at Toukley Golf Club
A number of the local service clubs offer bowls facilities including Canton Beach Sports Club, Toukley RSL Club and Norah Head Sports & Bowling Club.
There are a number of cycle tracks in the area and the flat coastal terrain makes it ideal for bike riders of all ages. The Toukley & District Cycle Club meets every Wednesday at Wallarah Point Park for their weekly social ride.
Tennis fans can get their fix at the Toukley Tennis Courts located in Ray St, Toukley.
The Toukley Aquatic Centre located in Heador St, Toukley offers year round swimming with a 25 m indoor heated pool, hydrotherapy pool and children’s wading pool.
The popular skate park located adjacent to the Aquatic Centre in Heador St, Toukley provides a safe area for skaters.
Water Sports
Tuggerah Lake and Budgewoi Lake are ideal for pleasure boating, sailing, water skiing, wind surfing jet skiing and kayaking. Soldiers Beach offers surfers, body boarders and swimmers some of the best surf and swimming conditions the Central Coast has to offer
The area offers opportunities for great scuba diving, snorkeling and spear fishing.
Fishing
The Greater Toukley area is ideal for anglers. Blackfish, whiting, mullet, snapper, bream, flounder, tailer, flathead, jewfish, tarwhine, crabs and prawns can all be caught from the foreshores of Tuggerah Lake. Lake Budgewoi is particularly good for bream. With Salmon, drummer, tailor, jewfish and snapper caught off the many beaches and rock platforms around the area.
An Art Haven
The Greater Toukley area is home to a vibrant and active art community.
The Toukley Art Gallery is located in the scenic Wallarah Peace Park at the Toukley Bridge. The gallery is opened 10am-4pm Tuesday – Friday and 10am-1pm on weekends and public holidays.
The Earl Hingston Gallery is located in the Toukley CBD at 248 Main Rd, Toukley and is opened during business hours Monday to Friday

Toukley CBD
With a major supermarket, a major electrical retailer, a discount store and a number of specialty shops, the Toukley Shopping Village boasts the best of destination shopping and a great range of services.
For the fashion junkie Toukley clothing retailers cater for vintage to designer clothing, surf wear and everything in between.
Some of the many specialty shops include giftware, art supplies, books, party supplies, tattoo artist, bikes, mobility equipment, computer supplies, sewing and material supplies, a wool shop, a newsagent, travel agent, photo supplies, florists, paint supplies, fresh seafood and butchers.
Toukley offers a complete range of health and beauty services including general practitioners, dentists, an orthodontist, pathology, radiology and x-ray, naturopathy, chemists, hairdressers and beauticians.
Toukley also caters for a range of financial services with the Commonwealth Bank, ANZ Bank, the Greater Building Society, financial planners, real estate agents, a mortgage broker, conveyancing services, solicitors, accountants.
The Toukley CBD also boasts the Toukley Library, Child Care facilities, Police, Ambulance, and Fire Stations.
Just west of the CBD lies a number of accommodation facilities, car rental, surf/ski retailer, funeral services, pool shop, rock and roll clothing boutique, furniture, florist, car mechanics and a tyre retailer.
East Toukley
If you are in the mood to browse for that something special for the home and then relax with a bite to eat and a coffee - the East Toukley Shopping Village is the place for you. With a number of retailers specializing in everything for your home including bedding and country style, Balinese and modern furniture and home wares. Also located at East Toukley is the RTA, a nursery, wedding retailer, photographic studio, craft supplies, newsagent, chemist, Asian grocery, bakery, work wear retailer, funeral services, car services, hairdressers, real estate agents and a video store. There are also cafes, takeaways and restaurants located in the East Toukley retail precinct.
An air conditioner retailer, a tyre retailer and mechanic, a petrol station, a butcher and a fruit/vegetable retailer and wholesaler and Thai restaurant are located just outside the East Toukley precinct.
Norah Head
